A laser skin care clinic is a medical aesthetic practice that uses lasers to treat specific skin concerns: unwanted hair, sun spots, redness and visible vessels, dull skin, fine lines, uneven texture and scarring. At Skin Anthology in Los Angeles, every laser plan starts with a free consultation, and treatments are performed in a medical environment by trained providers. This guide covers what each laser treats, what it costs, how to prepare and how to choose a clinic.
What a laser skin care clinic treats
Lasers are not one treatment. Each one delivers light energy that is absorbed by a different target in the skin, which is why the right laser depends on the concern you want to change:
- Pigment in the hair follicle for hair reduction.
- Pigment in the skin for sun spots and brown spots.
- Blood vessels for persistent redness and visible capillaries.
- The skin itself for resurfacing, where controlled micro injuries trigger new collagen.
Laser resurfacing, as Cleveland Clinic describes it, is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and scars, even out skin coloring and tighten skin. Gentler laser facials work below the surface instead, supporting collagen while leaving the surface intact. Here is how the treatments at Skin Anthology line up, with starting prices from the current price list:
| Concern | Treatment | From |
|---|---|---|
| Unwanted hair | Hair removal | $99 |
| Sun spots | Pigment laser | $249 |
| Redness | Vascular laser | $99 |
| Dull skin | Laser facial | $299 |
| Texture | CoolPeel | $75 |
| Deep lines | Fractional CO2 | $999 |
Starting price per session for the smallest area, from the current Skin Anthology price list. Your exact price is confirmed at the consultation.
A VISIA skin scan is part of the free consultation.
VISIA uses high resolution imaging and specialized lighting to show pigmentation patterns, fine lines, pores, texture, redness and UV related changes that are not always visible to the naked eye. The Skin Anthology VISIA facial analysis page notes that a scan typically costs $150, and at Skin Anthology it is included with your consultation at no additional cost.
Matching the laser to your concern
Each treatment below links to its own page with full preparation and aftercare. Session counts and recovery times come from those pages.
- Laser hair removal. Targets pigment in the follicle and turns light into heat while the skin is kept cool. Most patients need about 6 to 8 sessions, spaced to the hair growth cycle of each area. The laser hair removal cost guide breaks down a full course.
- Pigmentation and brown spot correction. A pulsed laser breaks pigment into smaller particles that the body clears, while the surrounding skin is preserved. Most patients benefit from 3 to 6 sessions spaced several weeks apart. More in the laser for dark spots guide.
- Laser vascular therapy. Laser energy is absorbed by the targeted vessels, which heat and collapse and are then cleared by the body. Most patients need 2 to 4 sessions, and bruising is possible when individual vessels are treated.
- Laser facial and MoveoGlo. Gentle, non-invasive treatments for overall skin quality, tone and early changes in texture and firmness. For the laser facial, a series of 3 to 6 sessions is typical and downtime is minimal.
- CoolPeel. Fractional CO2 energy delivered in cool, controlled pulses to refresh texture, tone, fine lines and pores. Plan on 3 to 5 days of visible redness and swelling, and a series of 3 to 6 sessions about 4 to 6 weeks apart.
- Fractional CO2 laser. The deepest resurfacing option, for sun damage, uneven texture and tone, fine lines and acne scarring. Many patients see significant results after one session, with about 5 to 7 days of social downtime, and up to 2 weeks after a deeper treatment. The CO2 laser downtime guide walks through it day by day.

What happens at your first visit
At Skin Anthology, care starts with a complimentary consultation. It opens with a conversation about your skin history, lifestyle, prior treatments and current concerns. Your provider then pairs a clinical evaluation with a visual assessment and, when it helps, a VISIA scan.
The findings are explained in plain language, and treatment options are discussed with clear expectations about timing, results and maintenance. You leave with a personalized plan with clear recommendations and timelines, and every treatment fee is reviewed with you before you proceed.
You do not have to decide on the spot. If you are ready, treatment can sometimes happen the same day, depending on the schedule and whether your skin needs preparation first.

Darker skin tones need a plan built for them.
Cleveland Clinic notes that people with darker skin tones have a greater risk of healing with darker pigmentation after laser resurfacing. At Skin Anthology, laser settings are selected for your skin type and adjusted throughout the session based on how your skin responds.
How to choose a laser skin care clinic
A laser is only as good as the plan and the hands behind it. The American Academy of Dermatology warns that laser hair removal can be dangerous in inexperienced hands, and says that following the before and after instructions greatly reduces the risk of side effects. The same thinking applies to every laser. Before you book anywhere, ask:
- Who performs the treatment, and where? At Skin Anthology, treatments are performed in a medical environment by trained providers. The clinic was co-founded by Cassandra Shekarchian, FNP-BC, a nurse practitioner.
- Which laser suits my skin, and why? You should hear a reason tied to your concern and your skin type, not a default.
- How many sessions, and how far apart? Most lasers work as a series, so the number of visits shapes both results and cost.
- What is the total price? Ask for the full series, not just the first session.
- What are the before and after instructions? A clear plan for sun, skincare and activity protects your results.
Before and after your laser treatment
Preparation differs a little by treatment, but the Skin Anthology service pages share the same core steps:
- Protect your skin from the sun. Avoid tanning, spray tans and prolonged sun exposure for 1 to 2 weeks before most laser treatments, at least 2 weeks before laser hair removal, and at least 2 to 4 weeks before fractional CO2.
- Pause strong actives. Hold retinoids, exfoliating acids and other strong actives for 3 to 5 days before most treatments, or 7 to 14 days before CO2, unless your provider directs otherwise.
- Share your history. Bring a list of medications, supplements and recent procedures. Do not stop a prescribed medication unless the clinician who prescribed it advises you to.
- Arrive with clean skin, without makeup, lotion or sunscreen on the treatment area.
For CoolPeel and fractional CO2, comfort is managed in the clinic: your provider may apply a topical numbing product, and a cold air chiller is used throughout the treatment.
Afterward, most treatments call for 24 to 48 hours without saunas, hot tubs, intense exercise or direct sun, gentle skincare until the skin settles, and broad spectrum sunscreen every day. After resurfacing, Cleveland Clinic recommends a facial sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 once the skin has healed.
Treated sun spots can look darker before they fade.
The Skin Anthology pigmentation page explains that treated spots may darken, flake or fade as the skin renews, and that the timing varies with the type and depth of the pigment. Daily broad spectrum sunscreen, which the same page calls essential, protects the result and lowers the risk of new pigmentation.
